lol...yeah I do 40k.

My 40k Blood Angel Army is like this

-Vindicator + Rocket L.
-Whirlwind + Rocket L.
-Baal Class Pred + Rocket L.
-Attack Bike w/ multi-melta
-land skimmer w/ multi-melta
-Death company= 16 (+/- 1) member w/ Jetpack
-Chaplain Lemartes
-Chief Librarian Mephisto (HELL YEAH)
-Force Commander
-Commander
-Termiantor squad w/ Cyclone Missle launcher & assault cannon
-Blood Angel Honor Guard w/ apothicary, techmarine, and standard bearers
-two 10 man tactical squads
-one 10 man veteran squad (Rocket and Flamer, some have polt pistol and chainsword)
-one 7 man tactical squad (i got 2 models free from a guy)

I also usually throw in some IG Cadian Shock troopers for a recon team. I didn't read the rules at first and made to many special weapons, so i had to break my two 10 man Cadian teams into smaller groups to make them allowable.

-four five man teams (3 flamers, 4 grenade L.)
-Commissar

Right now I'm depressed because i was going to paint all my models black and right now they look like total shit because they all have black over them, over there regular painting job. I am going to paint them gold, black, chain silver and skull white. but right now they just look like crap.

However I like computer war games more like Close Combat, A Bridge Too Far, and Close Combat III: The Russian Front.

I used to be a big-time Warhammer and 40k fan... except that on the very few occasions I actually played the games, I was bored witless . I loved building up armies, reading all the source material and above all painting the models, however. Collected Space Marines (my own chapter; had a load of Terminators among other things), Tyranids (didn't get too far with that, had a Lictor, a Tyranid Warrior, and was planning on starting a Genestealer cult as I had a shitload of 'stealers, plus a Patriarch and a Magus) and Lizardmen (had a *huge* army for them).

Unfortunately most of the models are now broken, mostly from the few occasions I took them to games at the local Games Workshop, and my most prized models were broken by the stupid house cleaners . My all-time favourite model though, this amazingly-painted standard Gretchin, is still in quite good condition.

:edit: Oh yeah, and I've always been a big Civilization fan- got every single game in the series (Alpha Centauri being my favourite) except Call To Power 2, as I didn't think much of the original.

Rofl!

It shouldn't be too hard to get the original game though, granted it was very much a cult hit but I think Amazon still stocks it. (actually Alien Crossfire is far harder to find, many Alpha Centauri fans would be very jealous of you )

I used to play Warhammer Fantasy and 40k, I still have my armies, although I no longer play - I put so much love into painting them, I just can't bring myself to part with them. I have two Fantasy armies - Elves and Chaos (Khorne) and a 40k Eldar army (unbeaten). Some of my faves:

My Harlequin, Yggddrazzil!

My Spirit Warrior, Lady Phoenix Ayla. (heavily converted)

Kaela Mensha Khaine, Eldar Avatar.

My Chaos chariot, also heavily converted.

Despoiler, my giant chimera - he was the luckiest, jammiest git ever - survived every single attack on him!

Chaos Warrior standard bearer.

High Elven cat rider from my Elf army.

My boyfriend used to work at Games Workshop, so these armies got to challenge others quite often. He has a VAST Orc army, all painted to the same standard as these!

Damn Sloffy, you're making me really jealous and depressed at the same time.

I used to play alot too, but I would hardly win. I would be in the best position to kick major ass, yet the motherf*cking dice would shit on me! So after a while I got discouraged

I then decide to try Imperial Guard, but soon after I didn't feel like throwing any more $$$$$$$$ into the hobby.

@TIKI
I love Alpha Centari.....love being the Spartans (for obvious reasons.)

I play Warhammer 40k. My armies are the Tyranids and Dark Angels. I use the Dark Angels more because it takes to much time in my opinion to move and attack and stuff with my Tyranids.

@kore: Rocket launcher on a vindicator...??? Do you mean the HK Missile? Also, I have a question about blood angles. I was playing against a BA army the other day, and the guy said all his basic troops got +1 strength and initative on the charge... Wtfux?

@viray: Leaping leaping leaping Combined with fleet of claw, gaunts can make an effective 12" move ^.^ How is that not fast?

@ nuthouse

yeah man, I put a One-Shot-one-use HK missle on each of my tanks. For only a couple points more, you have good AT capability for each vehicle. If a Falcon Grav Tank sneaks up on a whirlwind, the Whirlwind has one good Anti-Tank missle to try to screw up the other tank.

yeah we do get all that extra bonuses when we charge, since our men are raging with bloodthirst, i think on a roll of D6, 3+ they get bonuses that one time. I would have to consult my CODEX once again. It is ESPECIALLY effective with Death Company and Terminators.

I think it's a waste of points on a whirly - if you put it down right, nobody can ever see it. And if that falcon does sneak up, well, chances are with all the upgrades they *always* have...

Although, I've had amazing luck killing falcons

*hits with warp blast*

*pens on a six*

*rolls six for damage result*

*forced to re-roll. Stupid holo fields*

*rolls six again*

*falcon explodes*

*six guardians die*

Well the thing is.....if you have my luck, you're vindicator will shoot and miss, then it'll get taken out by some luckier than shit shots. So if I need something to put an end to something, lets say a troop transport or another tank, I always have that extra KRAK missle to go straight through the side armor.

I'm gonna get one more vindicator, those things blow the shit out of everything they see.

Yeah! Under the new rules, they r0x everything they see - under the old rules, they were useful, but not in the same way.

Old rules: You just plonk it down in a good firing lane, no *way* your opponent can resist attacking that super pie-plate of doom... If they don't, then they've got that super pie-plate of doom dropped on their heads...

New rules: Move the vindicator up 12" a turn, until it's within firing range. Then, just scoot 6" out and nuke something! Under the new rules, you have to roll to hit if you move, but with a marine's accuracy....

Ah, but you can get 1,000 points of Armored Company for just over $300!

Check this out.

SWEET! Now all i have to do is start saving allowances.

Either that, or I'm DEFINATELY going to do that as a hobby once I'm in the Corps. But I'll probably make a 2000 pt army with some extra tanks here and there.

Yeah, you have fun with that ^_^

And, it doesn't have to be all tanks - you can use sentinels, and storm troopers, and armored fist squads...

There's this one guy who plays at the store I play at, who uses a variation of the steel legion guard - EVERYTHING has a vehicle to be carted around in, and in the current rules setting, transports can hold objectives - He just leaves his infantry behind in his starting quarter (in a cleanse) and sends out his massive ammounts of chimeras to contest and capture all the rest. He *never* loses O.o

Of course, with the new fourth edition rules, transports don't count towards objectives..... *cackle*

As a response to your post Nuthouse, I have less Dark Angels so its less the hassle of moving guys. Especially because i have over 60 tyranids.

You can make a very effective tyranid army without having to use massive ammounts of figures - after all, what beats two tyrants, three carnifexes, and the red terror?
