I've been here for quite awhile and have been watching new threads come and go asking various questions about the members on this site, but one I have not come across is where people got their usernames from. Yes, we do know where some got their usernames, but what about the rest?
I haven't told anyone here where I got my username from (at least I don't think I did, bad memory), and belive it or not, it has everything to do with the Predator species.

The name was created by Shaloni, the co-author for Rupture in the City, about six years ago when we first started writing Predator stories. We had this thing for Predators using humans as slaves but within time made engineered humans that lead to a bad-ass human female named Trauma. Things got even more twisted over the years leading to a break through that dragons were once slaves too. After centuries of sleeping. A dragon awakens and in rage, from seeing the Predators had slaves under their controll again, transformed all the humans into dragons so they could rise up against their master's turning Trauma into a giant, red-eyed black dragon. Hence, Blackdawn was created.

What's your story?

7th grade. just in the beggining of my xenomorph obsession. i wrote a story for class. I created the name of Alien Lord at that point. long story short. outcast a prophecy on a stone board. falls into a hole. gets woken up by a xenomorph. drinks so blue gue stuff. WHAMO. creation of alien lord. 20 years later with a full hive alien lord and his fellow xenos try to take back the planet. win a battle but with such heavy losses that alien lord and his remaining xenos head out to mars. childish story. corney. badly wrote. but still. thats how i got alien lord. The new species was just an add on originally when i first came to the site. it was just to say that Alien Lord was neither human or xeno. that he was a newspecies all together.

Mar'kel-ja was derived from my first name by an old co-writer of mine, Preliator... From there, Mar'kel-ja has become quite known through the AGN network not to mention other sites where my work is posted.

Very original indeed Alien Lord, and cool middle name Viray, sounds mistifying. Whether it's something on a thread or a story, Mar, you have this habit of starting a never ending frenzy.
I became so obsessed with my character I ended up creating a username out of it (obviously, duh) and getting a dragon tattoo on my right arm that represents Blackdawn.

when i am 18 and actually have some muscles on my arms i am going to get two tatoos on the sides of my sholders.
one will be my emporer xeno with a backround of blue flames and the second will be my alien lord character with a backround of blueflames.

I was planning on having smoke come up and around my arm from Blackdawn's nostrils leading to about the shoulder area where a blue-eyed, white dragon with it's wings spread emerges and the wings would fold around underneath my arm. I had the picture picked out and everything, but now, my husband doesn't want me to get anymore tattoos. So I guess I'll just sit on my thumbs and see what will happen.
And I kinda wrote something backwards on my first post. The fault for posting threads 11 o'clock at night. Instead of Trauma being the result from the engineered humans, she and her 12 year old partner, Michelle; the white dragon, were the result of the engineered humans. They were the first normal slaves but kinda went through this metemorphisis when Trauma threw a tantrum at Michelle and spilled some chemicals changing them.

The Black Cat is a character I came up with years ago. I use the name on every forum I go to.

Ok, sure, but its a little complicated. He's also changed a lot since I first developed him. Basically he is one of the last remaining members of a phylum that was wiped out in the great permian extinction about 250 million years ago, a phylum that didn't leave any fossil traces. Ultimately only he and one other member of his species survived the event (an asteroid impact in the story) and its aftermath, and the other 10 or so members of his species are related to him and the other survivor (now his wife). The event made him so powerful as to be almost unbeatable. He has been wandering the Earth, mostly alone, since then. About 2500 years ago he established a small (14 member in the present day) society of extremely powerful mythical creatures to try to keep the peace between the thousands of races inhabiting Earth, and between the similar number of governments (in the story). They are powerful, but there are only a few of them so they are usually operating alone, making the job difficult. All the fighting members were adopted by Cat. After seeing the world nearly destroyed 3 times and almost every friend die of old age or violence, Cat has abandoned his emotions and relies on logic and experience instead. He also puts very low value on an individual life, and will sacrifice others readily if he feels the benefits outweight the costs. The other members of the society follow similar rules.

I took this name pic its a rarely used, and name name makes me think on acient things werid ah...... And the other reason is that i dont like to see copycats everywhere!!

well hicks was always my fav character but back wen i got into avp game for pc, i cudnt spell so corpral instead of corporal and it stuck!

Originally if i remember right Mar's name was Markela and he fixed it so it didn't sound so incredulously stupid.
then he derived my Yautja name from the one I orignially had.
