And as usual I will have to be handing in an Extenuating Circumstances form. (it's one to say that something has occured that has affected your performace on the assesment, exam or coursework). For this exam period, my Faculty could not decide where I was supposed to sit me exam! My personal timetable said one thing, and the people in that room said something else. So, for the first 30min of me hard biology exam I was being sent from one end of the campus to the other and being told that I can't sit my exam here, I have to got somewhere else. In the end, I ended up sitting me exam in the room that was writen on my exam timetable !
So thats UWE for you. Any of your from UK and thinking of going to the Uninversite of the West of Engalnd, DON'T !!! I have not met a single student from that sh*thole that has anything good to say about the academic side. At the end of the day your are not just going to UNI to get drunk, and for that Cardiff is far better
Thursday, I spent re-installing window, 5 times
Everytime I installed windows, Norton would not install itself. After many different attempts and advice from symantec, I gave up. I formated my C drive and did a complete clean install of everything. Therefore, I am still installing programmes right......
The point of this thread? Just to let people know what I've been upto. See what your suggestions would be for the first we of being released from a blackhole the is UWE.
For those still in education, what will you do when you leave it???

I hope to go to
The Military College of South Carolina(aka The Citadel)
Sam Houston State University
The United States Naval Academy
University of Texas @ Austin
Texas A&M
If I attend an ROTC or Cadet Corps than I will go into either the Army of Marines as a 2ndLT. If I don't, then I will do OCS and end up a 2ndLT the same way.
OH and what was you major Prezes?

The Psychology was crap, nothing more recent than 1975, most of the theories were wrong, but I was not allowed to say that. So I got marked down. The IT was being tought by science teachers, so we learned about physics and biology and chemistry instead. They would teach us how Infra-red spectroscopy works or how CAT/MRI/PET scanners work in an attempt to call it IT.
So, as a large number of the students quit and went on to do other things, the complaints fell on deaf ears. In the end, I had to quit my degree and move to BSc(Hons) General Science. I was no able to choose any module I liked, I simply wanted to get enough credits so that I could gradute and leave the crap place.
I am tryng to get into a Web Developers position(as you can see be the sites we have here ), but nobody wants a graduate these days. All the companies are looking for 2-3 years of experience
Military was always an option, but I always wanted more money and the Armed Forces never payed that well .
As to how hard Uni is, it depends what you do! The more you enjoy the subject the more you will work on it. Obviously there will be things that you will find really hard, so just hard and others very easy.

As for the Film School, cool. There are quite a demand for young people to enter the film industry in th UK at the mo'. Most people around the world keep going of to the US to try their luck in Hollywood.
So, Dylan_Apocalyptist, you gonna try and get into Hollywood or will you stay in the low-key aspect and try later?

I you do discover their worlds Val, I want to be the CO of an elite Marine Recon or escort an ambassador to the race.
I totally agree with Mar with the fact that it's bullsh*t, except for the fact that it's important pending on what you want to do after the military. Example, science would be a waste of time for me, but History is not because I want to teach military history afterwards.
Cadet Corps is cool because you get your military trainning and can recieve your commission after your graduate.
Dylan might make it BIG someday.....he really might!

Depends on what you are doing. There are easy majors and difficult ones. The more difficult the major, the more likely you are to make lots of money Engineering and hard sciences are hard, architecture is hard, political science and music business are not. Some depend on the school you go to (music is really hard at my school, but not at many others). So its a trade off, work really hard in college and make lots of money, or don't and take your chances.

- as the guy STILL studying for my goddamn PhD which doesnt wanna come to an end;
and
- as a guy DOING THE TEACHING;
so I get to suffer from MY supervisors giving me crappy things to do, and then I MYSELF give students crappy things to do
Regarding combining military service with education--more and more countries offer you an opportunity of undertaking for FREE university degrees as part of or AFTER your military service.
For those that cant afford Uni, doing THAT might be an option. Plus, you're more mature after a stint in the Army so Uni might be easier/more worthwile.

"Governance, Culture and Enterprise in the transofrmation of Polish Business since 1989".
A freakish topic on which I have to write 200-250 pages.
In expectation of completing it in the next 12 months I'm already thinking of the SECOND PhD--this time in Politics, UNLESS I get offered a scholarship to do one in Psychology.
After the PhD I'm required within 9 years to complete a "habilitation", which is a post-doctoral research degree that exists in about 7 countries on this planet.
A habilitation simply requires "the mastery of an area of knowledge, proven by a book-sized publication at an established publisher", looooooooooooooooooooooooooool. Simple, really
Only when I have "dr.hab" before my name can I expect to be nominated for a "professorship", which would make my business card start with "prof.dr.hab."

When I was at the US Naval Academy Summer Seminar, I tried
---Mech. Engineering.......F**king hated it! 7 formulas to get a simple answer.
---Robotic. Engineering....Looked Cool, but the Math might get me
---Science is an instant hell no.
---Math is an instant hell no.
---English looked OK.
@demi
MULTIPLE PhDs? You must love school. I personally want to spend as LESS time in school as I can, (BUT of course do enough that will help me later)

Your not going to like any engineering if you don't like science and math. Engineering is applied science after all, and science is really applied math. |
My point exactly.

There should be guarded enclaves for "counting freaks".
Add another enclave for lawyers and accountants and this world would be a safer place.
