I am getting fed-up of telling people to keep on topic.

If a thread was made for a reason stick to talking about that reason!

Keeping on topic? Not something we do a lot of around here is it, which isn't such a bad thing. The thing is someone goes of topic and others follow it's not just one persons that causes it. I don't really see the harm in going off topic if someone wants to post something that's on topic why not post it even if they thread has gone off topic.

Because it heads away from the thread original reason of posting.

If someone gets another idea its best to start another thread.

WHY?!?!? Its too much trouble, and how can you be sure that the people who frequent ONE topic are going to see your OTHER topic?

I think that getting of a topic ain't suchs a bad thing as long it's real conversation not just flaming other, you can do that in PM's. Getting offf a topic might just result in more conversation and it might be useless to do a new topic just for one short lived thing which can be dealt wihtin another topic.

Indeed kang, like in my Right back where we started thread, don't just bitch and moan about going off topic, don't lock up da thread and delete it. going off topic is how conversation is created, and sure in some places its not good but in others you need it. you get my meaning? like if theres a thread where us older buggers are talking about something on topic and debating over it and stuff, and a noob or someone comes along and fully goes off topic, that is when the other people in the thread (if it is us) will tell that person in a nice way to get the hell back on topic

im getting fed up with how u bragged about how u were suddenly a mod. then how u are such a hipprocrit. and finally how much of a suck up to the older mods. i dont care if i loose my position for posting this. these people are right.
going off topic creates conversation. conversation is how people get to know each other. and since when did we all care about topic. sure every now and then ill say back on topic to say something. but by no means am i even attempting to make people get back to the topic. i say this. i admire ur skill on ur websites. but that by no means gives u any whats so ever neccesity to become so bigheaded.

True and just think about if we didn't know each other all that well our community wouldn't be half as good as it is now. Are you a perfect person ALNS? i bet my life earnings that you arn't, there is always room for improvement, so don't go pushing people around. you don't like something someone is doing, keep to yourself about it, or tell someone who can deal with it.

God forget it then....u want a forum full of thread ment to talk about 1 think and are talking about another topic...you do that then.

I'm finally back as my net connection gave up . But as I have some cathing up to do I'll start here. Markelja I understand your meaning in the earlier post and I think the same way and going off a topic ain't a bad thing as long it is for good purpose as I said, but the problem for moderators might be to know when it is good as sometimes it might be just on the edge and then mod closes topic (or something like that) and then ppl start to complain. So it might not be easy thing to be a mod allways.

As far as I'm concerned, any threads that can carry on some sort of coherent conversation in the AvP forums can stay open, whether it's on topic or not. Exceptions will be if the person who started the thread tries to keep it on topic for a specific reason, and their requests to keep it on topic are ignored, then irrelevant posts may be deleted or the thread locked.

Corpral Hicks had the best of intentions, and most people have respectfully disagreed with him. If you cannot respectfully disagree with someone, then you WILL NOT post your comments on an open forum. Posts of this sort will not be tolerated.

please forgive my disrespect from last weak. i know this is not an excuse but alot has happened to me in one weak. it was a tad stressful.
