All of you need to take a look at the site, and tell me what you think...

ITS JUST LIKE LAST TIME!! THERES NOOBS COMING IN LEFT RIGHT AND CENTER, AND SOME OF OUR MEMBERS AND EVEN SOME MOD'S ARE MESSING IT UP, SCARING AWAY POSSIBLE MEMBERS, I AM SICK TO DEATH ABOUT IT!!

yeh, noobs coming in, thats gud, but in this time, THIS time, is the time for us, the older members to take control of the situation, people who know what they are doing, people like Alien Slof, Killa Dutch, Prezes, Sir YawnaLot, Helios... the list goes on, and as time passes, i see less and less of these people around here. its right back to where it left off 2 months ago. I am no where near the greatest role3 model to be yelling and demanding things like this, but i know, from fact, and personal experiences that this is the final struggle, we need to pull this out, we need to lay it all down and do what we can for OUR COMMUNITY. OUR community. YOUR community, i say yours because, soon i will be leaving as well, but i Quote: "I will return."

No i haven't F**king finished yet, sit down!! I am Skar'ku Mar'kel-ja, and i have been a complete disaster at times, but that person, grew out of me, and i see how bad things can become here, i should know, i used to strive to achieve those things, somthing i am not proud of...
But if we can strive together and stop all the shit slinging, and arguing (i know there is not as much) and mod's, kick me, do what you want, but hear me out, you have the power, don't abuse it, use it. use it in a better way, don't just lock up threads when it gets off topic or boring. And for all the mods out there across the network who are reading this, recruit new mod;s, people who can help out, people who want to do something, but also know what they are doing, and know what people want, and strive in all the times that they can to deliver what the people want, after all its a community, and what more does a community want but the right leadership, and coordination.

Woah! you have a valid point mar. And this was a good place to put it actually... but maybe you should re-name this thread "GET IT OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM", where people yell non stop. It just might help..

Hmm. I may not have read much of that correctly, and what I'm about to write may not make sense, but hey, I invite anyone else to try it while listening to the Chili's at this volume...
Anyway, I agree that locking up threads and telling people off for fairly small reasons like minor strayings off-topic ISN'T what these forums are about, and it's the kind of behavior which can, as Mark says, scare away potential members. I became involved with these forums because of the mature atmosphere around here, something that's very rare in forums. Sure there are people who act in an immature manner and others who simply can't spell (I won't name any names, but it isn't exactly a sin anyway), but that kind of behavior isn't particularly common around here and isn't the cause of an immature atmosphere. Members around here were allowed to say pretty much anything that popped into their heads unless it was something offensive or majorly out of line, and the mods tended to add to the conversation rather than oversee them. This encouraged excellent threads and conversations with real depth that were great to take part in. In other words, what I mean by a mature atmosphere is somewhere that doesn't resemble a schoolroom full of constantly repressed kids and tense teachers- a picture that's been built up in many forums I've looked at (and wasn't attracted to for that reason) but hasn't been the case at AbsoluteAvP until very recently.
So rather than just worrying about not attracting new members in general with the current trends in action around here lately, we perhaps should worry even more about the kind of new members we're likely to pick up with a classroom-like atmosphere... not to mention members we might be likely to drive off...

It was all true and Yawn covered most of it but I like absolute. This is the best forum I've been on. Sure most of the older memeber (you forgot me in your list Mar) don't come here as much anymore but they still do come and we do have never member. The admin thing had always been a slight problem and yes I agree over admining is a bad thing makes it seem to strick which alone scares off new members.

I'm suddenly reminded of DP, ah that was funny. Haven't seem him around here for quite some time.

RIGHT ON MAR!!! FREE FOOD!! HUH?
dat was beautiful, say it again

But arent discussions in real life supposed to go off topic, otherwise we would talk about the same thing non stop till the universe ends or something.

We were all noobs once, but when do we stop becoming a noob? Am I a noob? Where can I find the toilets?

you ahve a point in there, but me myself have watched this site a looong time, I might've not been a member, but I've been hooked to this site for ever, mainly for it's great stories. I was away for some time, but then came back, you can only imagine the shock I had when it read on mainsite that great authors like Sloffy and Anise had left. I'm very glad to see that the are more of inspiring authors, and maybe even gladder when I noticed that Sloffy came back. Being a noob ain't a bad thing as long s you abide by the rules and every one should remember that they were noobs too at some point. But as I said in my posts start I came here mainly for the stories and I think that as long as there is one good author Ithis site is alive. But I still hope Anise comes back, I miss her short stories.

i agree, nice call Acid. a treaty of peace, we get the mods to veiw it write it or what ever and we all sign it in unison with the contracts stated. and if we breach contract, out the bloody door.

O.o... what if not everybody signs?

Then not everybody stays, i say make it complusory wen you first sign up to the site, you have to read through a contract and mark that you have read it and understand the circumstances with one if those little tick boxes.

Isn't that defeating the point you made by opening up this thread? Because potential new members would only be driven away if you're made to sign a contract when you sign up. I don't think making new rules is going to be of much help here, sorry.
